NZRC have produced a set of 15 tests at 4 levels, plus 2 Prix Caprilli tests. The set, which includes guidelines for riders and judges, is available from the Secretary.
These tests can be used for club or open dressage competitions with no extra charges.
LEVEL 1: (3 tests):
These are for inexperienced riders or horses and approximately equate with NZRC Stage 1, Pony Club "D" and PC Junior Riding Tests
The tests include 20m trot circles, free walk on a long rein, canter around the arena.
LEVEL 2 (3 tests)
These approximately equate with NZRC Stage 2, Pony Club "C" and PC Riding Tests.
The tests include 5m loop walk, 10m half circles walk, 5m loop trot, 20m half circle trot, 10m half circle trot, and down centre line, 20m canter circle.
LEVEL 3 (3 tests)
These approximately equate with Pony Club "C+" and Preliminary NZEF tests.
The tests include 10m circles walk, 15m circles trot, 15m half circles and return to track trot, 3-loop serpentine trot, change of rein canter through trot at X, lengthened strides trot.
LEVEL 4 (5 tests)
These approximately equate with NZRC Stage 3, Pony Club "B" and Novice NZEF tests.
The tests include 5m leg yield walk, turn on forehand, 10m half circles left and right trot, 10m circles trot, 15m circles canter, loops canter, lengthened strides canter, 15m half circle return to track canter.
PRIX CAPRILLI (2 tests)
Judged in the same format as the NZRC dressage tests, but jump penalties can also be incurred.
Test 1 is shorter and simpler than Test 2.
Maximum jump heights: Test 1: 60cm Test 2: 70cm
