THE OBJECTIVES of the NZRC are:

To promote and encourage Riding Clubs within New Zealand under the Constitution, Rules and Guidelines of the NZRC.

To Promote opportunities for the acquisition and diffusion of skills and information relating to all equestrian sports.

To co-operate with the NZ Equestrian Federation, the NZ Pony Clubs Association and other New Zealand national equestrian bodies.

To educate, examine and appoint Examiners and Instructors for the NZRC.

To promote the NZRC Proficiency Tests for the purpose of educating the adult rider in riding skills and horse and stable management.

Subject to the rules and policy of the NZRC, to affiliate with any organisation, whether operating within New Zeland or overseas, which has objectives similar to or compatible with the NZRC.

To encourage inter-club, area and Island teams competitions, and promote an annual National Teams Event competition.

To introduce and maintain Rules and Guidelines governing NZRC Proficieny Tests, Examiners, Seminars and Teams Event competition when and where necessary, as seen fit by the NZRC National Committee and where the NZ Equestrian Federation and British Horse Society Rules do not provide adequately.

To promote the safety of horses, riders and handlers.

To administer Bridleways of New Zealand.

To concern itself with any matter which may benefit horse and rider and to do all such things which are incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above objectives.

MEMBERSHIP:
The NZRC shall have the power to accept applications for membership from any Riding Club or individual which meet the criteria for membership laid down in teh NZRC Constitution.

The membership of the NZRC shall consist of the following:

AFFILIATED CLUBS
Clubs shall pay an annual fee that shall be set at the Annual General Meeting for the ensuing year.
Affiliated Clubs shall have all the rights and privileges of membership.

INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP
An individual (17 years or older) may apply to the National Committee to join as an Individual Member.

The membership within Affiliated Clubs shall consist of adults (17 years or older). However, having members under 17 years of age shall not disqualify a club from affiliating with the NZRC.

AT GENERAL MEETINGS
Each Affiliated Club and Life Member shall have one vote. The vote can only be exercised by the person duly nominated by the club in writing to the NZRC Secretary fourteen days prior to the General Meeting. In addition, Bridleways of NZ members shall have one vote as a group, to be cast by the Bridleways Convenor on their behalf.

PROXY AND POSTAL VOTING
Members entitled to vote and not attending a Meeting may vote at a General Meeting by Proxy or Postal voting (more details of this in the full Constitution).

NATIONAL COMMITTEE
The Officers of the National Committee shall consist of :

President/Chairman
North Island Vice President
South Island Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer
Riders Roundup Editor
Bridleways Convenor
plus up to five Committee members

SUB-COMMITTEES
A sub-committee may be formed as required... at present the active sub-committees are Bridleways, and the Training and Examiners Sub-committee

The present rules were substituted as the Constitution of the Society pursuant to a resolution to that effect passed at the Annual General Meeting of the NZRC Incorporated on 20th July, 1996 and were accepted as valid at this meeting.
